Activity Steps (TASKPROC) — Not Activities, Not MSP Subtasks

TASKPROC steps are a checklist; Physical % only if the project option is on

P6 Status tab. Duration Original / Actual / Remaining and Physical %.
Physical % can come from steps. A step is a list on the activity, not Remaining duration.

What a planner means

Steps are a checklist on one activity (pour / strip / cure pieces, or a punch list). They are not the WBS and not child activities. No dates, no relationships.

XER table TASKPROC:

ColumnOracle label
proc_idUnique ID
task_idActivity
proc_nameStep Name
proc_descrStep Description
proc_wtStep Weight
complete_flagCompleted
complete_pctStep % Complete
seq_numSort Order
proj_idProject

When they drive % complete

Only if both are true:

  1. Project preference Calculate Activity % Complete from activity steps is on (Oracle: cleared by default).
  2. The activity’s Percent Complete Type is Physical.

Then Physical % Complete (and Activity % Complete) come from the steps, not a typed number. Oracle example: 3 of 4 equal-weight steps complete → 75%.

XER project flag: PROJECT.step_complete_flag (Oracle label: Physical Percent Complete uses Steps Completed). Stored Y/N unverified.

If the option is off, Physical % Complete is user-entered. Duration % Complete is still (Planned − Remaining) / Planned and does not read steps. See P6 Remaining Duration vs Percent Complete.

Microsoft Project

Project has no step table. A “subtask” is an outline child with its own dates. Do not turn TASKPROC rows into MSP summary/subtask indent, or map step weight to Work.
