Expected Finish (Not Remaining Finish, Not a Constraint)
Expected Finish is a typed forecast; scheduler honors it only if the option is on

Expected Finish is a typed forecast: the date the people on the work think the activity will finish. It is not a calculated remaining finish, and it is not a Finish On / FNLT constraint.
What the field is
Oracle (EPPM Status window): “the date on which the primary resource … anticipates work on the activity will finish.” Only the primary resource can edit it once the activity has started. Burn-down docs: typically entered in Timesheets. Primavera Cloud: entered manually by people who know the work products.
XER: TASK.expect_end_date (Oracle label: Expected Finish).
Schedule Options: Use Expected Finish Dates — “schedule activity finish dates as the expected finish dates.” Oracle Professional: checked by default. Primavera Cloud: if no Expected Finish is assigned, the date defaults to Remaining Early Finish.
XER flag: SCHEDOPTIONS.sched_use_expect_end_flag. Stored Y/N values are not listed in the Oracle column map. Unverified. Do not invent them.
What it is not
It is not Early Finish, Remaining Early Finish, or a Finish On / FNLT constraint. Those are calculated or imposed. This one is a forecast sitting on the activity.
It is not the Data Date. The Data Date is the as-of for remaining work. Expected Finish is a date the scheduler may honor if the option is on.
Oracle does not spell the remaining-duration arithmetic when an Expected Finish is set (whether remaining duration is recomputed from remaining start to that date) on the pages cited here. Do not invent that formula.
Microsoft Project has Status Date and remaining duration; it does not have a primary-resource Expected Finish field. Do not map expect_end_date to MSPDI ConstraintType.
23-10-CE-LIVE data date is 31-Jul-26 17:00. Whether that XER has Expected Finish values populated is not claimed here.
Must not
- Treat Expected Finish as Remaining Finish or Early Finish.
- Treat Expected Finish as a Finish On / FNLT constraint.
- Treat Expected Finish as the Data Date.
- Map
expect_end_dateto an MSP constraint type. - Invent stored Y/N values for
sched_use_expect_end_flag.
