Funding
Funding source is who pays; not Original Budget, not spending plan

What a planner means
A funding source is an agency, business, or group that provides money for a project. Oracle keeps a hierarchical list as enterprise project data. You assign sources to a project or EPS element, not to an activity.
Same source can be assigned more than once, with different Amount and Fund Share values at different EPS levels. Oracle: funds are not totaled by EPS. You edit each project or EPS row so a child can be funded even when the parent EPS has a small plan.
Amount is the dollars on that assignment. Fund Share is the percentage of the total fund allocated to that project (Oracle REST / Integration API). The UI totals assignment rows as Total Funding. That total is not Original Budget and not the spending plan.
Original Budget lives on the WBS (PROJWBS.orig_cost). Spending and benefit plans are period rows on WBSBUDG. Cost accounts (ACCOUNT) tag assignment and expense cost. None of those are a funding source.
XER
FUNDSRC (Funding Sources):
| Column | Oracle label |
|---|---|
fund_id | Unique ID |
fund_name | Funding Source |
fund_descr | Description |
parent_fund_id | Parent Funding Source |
seq_num | Sort Order |
PROJFUND (Project Funding Assignments):
| Column | Oracle label |
|---|---|
proj_fund_id | Unique ID |
proj_id | Project |
fund_id | Funding Source |
fund_cost | Amount |
fund_wt | Fund Share |
No TASK funding columns on the project map. fund_wt stored scale (0–100 vs 0–1) is unverified. Do not invent a formula that derives Amount from Original Budget.
Microsoft Project
MSP has budget resources (Budget flag on a work/material/cost resource, assigned only to the project summary task) and Budget Cost. That is a resource-level budget, not a hierarchical funding-source dictionary. MSPDI has no FUNDSRC / PROJFUND. Do not map fund_cost to Budget Cost or Cost1.
Don't
- Treat funding as Original Budget, Spending Plan, or a cost account.
- Roll EPS funding up or down (Oracle does not total by EPS).
- Put funding on TASK or TASKRSRC.
- Map FUNDSRC to an MSP budget resource or Cost field.
- Invent a
fund_wtformula.
