What a planner means

Copy and paste resource spreadsheet data to Microsoft Excel is Oracle Copy and paste resource spreadsheet data to Microsoft Excel. Project, Resource Assignments. Select a row. Edit, Copy (row and column headers and values go to the clipboard). In Excel, right-click → Paste. Edits in Excel do not return to the project. Reporting only. It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not the Resource Usage Spreadsheet object note, not Copy and paste data from Microsoft Excel into P6 Professional, not TASKPRED, not EPPM copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft Project export.

Oracle does print a how-to titled Copy and paste resource spreadsheet data to Microsoft Excel. Oracle does not print a menu item named Copy and paste resource spreadsheet data to Microsoft Excel. The path that how-to prints is Project, Resource Assignments; Edit, Copy; then Paste in Excel. Do not invent View > Copy and paste resource spreadsheet data to Microsoft Excel.

Oracle Copy and paste resource spreadsheet data to Microsoft Excel (Professional):

  • "In Excel, right-click in the spreadsheet, then choose Paste."
  • "Choose Project, Resource Assignments."
  • "Select a row, then choose Edit, Copy."
  • "All associated spreadsheet data, as well as row and column headers and values, will be copied to the clipboard."
  • "Excel may try to reformat data pasted into its cells. You can reformat the cells as text before pasting your data, or try pasting into a different application."
  • "Any edits made in Excel will not be returned to the project. This can be used for reporting only."
  • "If you have any fields with #######, simply expand the column width to accommodate the project information."

That how-to fetched prints no OK, no Apply, no Save, no Yes, no Ctrl+C, and no Activities window path. Do not invent those on this how-to.

The Resource Usage Spreadsheet is a different object note. Leave Resource Usage Spreadsheet as the object.

Copy and paste data from Microsoft Excel into P6 Professional is a different how-to. That is paste back into P6. Do not collapse this onto that page.

Professional vs EPPM

Professional — Project, Resource Assignments; Edit, Copy; Excel right-click Paste. Reporting only; Excel edits do not return. No OK / Apply on this how-to page.

EPPM web — the Professional how-to page is the source for this note. Do not invent an EPPM Excel paste command. Do not copy Professional Edit, Copy onto EPPM.

Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.

XER

The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no RESOURCEUSAGE / EXCELPASTE table. Do not invent a view %T. Copying to Excel does not write TASK. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.

Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project can copy Resource Usage to Excel. Do not map that as P6 Copy and paste resource spreadsheet data to Microsoft Excel. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.

Don't

  • Invent View > Copy and paste resource spreadsheet data to Microsoft Excel, OK, Apply, Save, Yes, Ctrl+C, or an Activities window path on this how-to.
  • Claim Excel edits write back to P6 (this page says they do not).
  • Collapse this onto Copy and paste data from Microsoft Excel into P6 Professional or the Resource Usage Spreadsheet object.
  • Copy Professional Edit, Copy onto EPPM.
  • Invent an EXCELPASTE XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from TASKRSRC.
  • Map MSP Resource Usage copy as this how-to.
  • Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
