Define the Activity Usage Profile
Define the Activity Usage Profile is Display Options bar; Activity Usage Profile Options; Data and Graph; Apply or OK

What a planner means
Define the Activity Usage Profile is Oracle Define the Activity Usage Profile. Display the profile. Display Options bar in the profile → Activity Usage Profile Options, or right-click → Activity Usage Profile Options. Data tab: Cost or Units; filter types (Total for cost totals); Show Bars/Curves (By Date / Cumulative / Color); Show Earned Value Curves. Graph tab: Vertical Lines; horizontal lines or None; Show Legend; 3D Bars; Background Color; Calculate Average; Divide Interval Totals By; Base on Hours Per Timeperiod; Unit of Measure. Apply to view without closing; OK to save. Optional: Display Actual and Earned Value using Financial Period data for past period actuals (leave clear for actual to date). It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not the Activity Usage Profile object note, not Display the Activity Usage Profile, not Show or hide the profile legend in the histogram, not Define the Resource Usage Profile, not Change a profile's background lines, not the Activity Usage Spreadsheet, not TASKPRED, not EPPM copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft Resource Graph options.
Oracle does print a how-to titled Define the Activity Usage Profile. Oracle does not print a menu item named Define the Activity Usage Profile. The path that how-to prints is Display Options bar → Activity Usage Profile Options. Do not invent View > Define the Activity Usage Profile.
Oracle Define the Activity Usage Profile (Professional):
- "Display the Activity Usage Profile, then click the Display Options bar in the profile and choose Activity Usage Profile Options. You can also right-click in the profile and choose Activity Usage Profile Options."
- "Click the Data tab."
- "Choose the category of information to display: Cost or Units."
- "To select the data included in the profile, mark the checkbox next to each filter type. Then, select the pattern to use to display each data type. If you choose to display cost data, you can select more than one filter to view a combination of cost values in the project profile. To display cost totals, mark the Total checkbox."
- "In the Show Bars/Curves area, mark the checkbox for each category of cost/units you want to display. To show these data by date, mark the By Date checkbox. To show these data as a curve representing cumulative value, mark the Cumulative checkbox. To select the color for each bar/curve, click the Color button."
- "In the Show Earned Value Curves area, mark the checkbox for each cumulative earned value curve you want to display. To select the color for each curve, click the Color button."
- "Click the Graph tab."
- "To display a vertical background line for major and/or minor timescale increments, in the Vertical Lines area, mark the corresponding checkbox. For example, in a Year/Month format timescale, major lines would display between years; minor lines would display between months."
- "To display horizontal lines for each numerical increment listed along the side of the profile, choose the type of line you want to display, then select the line color. Choose None to hide background horizontal lines."
- "Show Legend: Mark to display a legend for the profile's bars/curves."
- "3D Bars: Mark to display the profile's bars in 3D."
- "Background Color: Click to change the profile's background color."
- "Calculate Average: Mark to specify the values you want to use to divide the timescale interval totals."
- "Divide Interval Totals By: To divide the timescale interval totals by an increment you specify, type it in this field."
- "Base on Hours Per Timeperiod: To divide the timescale interval totals by automatic increments, based on the date interval selected, mark this checkbox. When you choose this option, the Divide Interval Totals By field displays the division increment based on the division increment specified in User Preferences for the corresponding date interval: 1h for Hour date interval, 2h for Shift date interval, 8h for Day date interval, 40h for week date interval, and so on."
- "Unit of Measure: Specify the unit of measure for the timescale intervals."
- "To view your profile options without closing the dialog box, click Apply; to save your selections, click OK."
- "Mark the Display Actual and Earned Value using Financial Period data option if you want to display past period actual values. Do not mark the checkbox if you want to display actual to date values."
- "If projects are summarized by financial period (which is controlled by an administrative setting), this option is ignored. When projects are summarized by financial period and you display a financial period timescale, the profile displays past period actual values if performance has been stored for a financial period; for financial periods that do not have stored performance, the profile displays actual to date values in financial period intervals."
That how-to fetched prints no Save, no Yes, no Show Values, no View menu, and no Labor / Nonlabor / Material / Expenses names on the filter-type sentence. Do not invent those names on this how-to. The object note has the dialog catalog.
The Activity Usage Profile is a different object note. Leave Activity Usage Profile as the object.
Display the Activity Usage Profile is a different how-to. Show on Bottom. See Display the Activity Usage Profile.
Show or hide the profile legend in the histogram is a different how-to. Show Legend only.
Change a profile's background lines is a different how-to. Graph tab lines on more than one profile type.
Professional vs EPPM
Professional — Display Options bar / right-click → Activity Usage Profile Options; Data and Graph; Apply or OK. No Save on that page.
EPPM web — the Professional how-to page is the source for this note. Do not invent an EPPM Activity Usage Profile Options dialog. Do not copy Professional Display Options bar onto EPPM.
Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.
XER
The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no ACTUSAGE / PROFILEOPTIONS / HISTOGRAM table. Do not invent a view %T. Defining the profile does not write TASK. Layouts travel as .plf. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.
Microsoft Project
Microsoft Project can format a Resource Graph. Do not map that as P6 Define the Activity Usage Profile. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
Don't
- Invent View > Define the Activity Usage Profile, Save, Yes, Show Values, or filter-type names this how-to does not print.
- Collapse this onto Display, Show or hide the profile legend, Define the Resource Usage Profile, or the Activity Usage Profile object.
- Copy Professional Display Options bar onto EPPM.
- Invent a PROFILEOPTIONS XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from TASK dates.
- Map MSP Resource Graph options as this how-to.
- Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
