Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram

Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram is Data and Graph tabs; Preferences, Resource Analysis

P6 Resources tab. Assignment columns and Add Resource / Add Role.
These are assignment rows. A regular Resource Usage histogram is Show on Bottom, not this tab.

What a planner means

Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram is Oracle Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram. In Resource Usage Profile Options, Data tab: Cost or Units; past period actuals vs actual to date; Show Bars/Curves; remaining as total vs open-vs-closed (all-projects view); staffed vs unstaffed (role view); Show Overtime / Limit / Overallocation / Available Units. Graph tab: Vertical Lines; horizontal lines or None; Show Legend; 3D Bars; Show Values; Background Color; Calculate Average; Divide Interval Totals By; Base on Hours Per Timeperiod; Unit of Measure. Preferences, then Resource Analysis tab, for time-distributed interval/dates and which projects count when Show Remaining Bars As, Total Remaining. It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not the Resource Usage Profile object note, not Define the Resource Usage Profile (overview), not Define the Resource Usage Profile - Stacked Histogram, not Display the Resource Usage Profile, not TASKPRED, not EPPM copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft Resource Graph options.

Oracle does print a how-to titled Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram. Oracle does not print a menu item named Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram. That how-to starts in Resource Usage Profile Options. Do not invent View > Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram.

Oracle Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram (Professional):

  • "The options you can specify for a Resource Usage Profile differ depending on whether you display the profile in resource or role view, and on whether you choose to display resource allocation for one or more open projects or total allocation for all projects across the enterprise."
  • "You choose the resources to include in the profile by selecting them in the left pane of the Bottom Layout window. To specify whether you want to display the profile in role or resource view, click the Display Options bar in the left pane, then choose Select View, By Resource or By Role."
  • "In the Resource Usage Profile Options, click the Data tab."
  • "Choose the type of information to display: Cost or Units."
  • "Mark the Display Actual using Financial Period data option if you want to display past period actual values. Do not mark the checkbox if you want to display actual to date values."
  • "In the Show Bars/Curves area, mark the checkbox to specify which cost/unit categories you want to display and whether to show these data by date or as a curve representing cumulative value. Select the color for each bar/curve."
  • "If the profile displays resource allocation across the enterprise (all projects), you can choose how you want to display remaining values: as total values across all projects in the enterprise, or as values in the open projects vs. values in closed projects. If you are displaying roles in the profile, you can choose to view staffed vs. unstaffed costs/units. Staffed units are those for which resources have been assigned to fill role assignments."
  • "Show Overtime (open projects view only): Mark to show the resource's overtime units for each time unit in the current layout."
  • "Show Limit: Mark to show the resource's maximum units for each timescale interval in the current layout. This option is available only if you choose to display Units."
  • "Show Overallocation: Mark to display overallocated values in the current layout. This option is available only if you choose to display Units and select Show Limit."
  • "Show Available Units: Mark to display a horizontal line that indicates the resource's available units. This option is available only if you choose to display Units."
  • "Click the Graph tab."
  • "To display a vertical background line for major and/or minor timescale increments, in the Vertical Lines area, mark the corresponding checkbox. For example, in a Year/Month format timescale, major lines would display between years; minor lines would display between months."
  • "To display horizontal lines for each numerical increment listed along the side of the profile, choose the type of line you want to display, then select the line color. Choose None to hide background horizontal lines."
  • "Show Legend: Mark to display a legend for the profile's bars/curves."
  • "3D Bars: Mark to display the profile's bars in 3D."
  • "Show Values: Mark to display the values of each bar in the histogram."
  • "Background Color: Click to change the profile's background color."
  • "Calculate Average: Mark to specify the values you want to use to divide the timescale interval totals."
  • "Divide Interval Totals By: To divide the timescale interval totals by an increment you specify, type it in this field."
  • "Base on Hours Per Timeperiod: To divide the timescale interval totals by automatic increments, based on the date interval selected, mark this checkbox. When you choose this option, the Divide Interval Totals By field displays the division increment based on the division increment specified in User Preferences for the corresponding date interval: 1h for Hour date interval, 2h for Shift date interval, 8h for Day date interval, 40h for week date interval, and so on."
  • "Unit of Measure: Specify the unit of measure for the timescale intervals."
  • "To specify the interval and dates to use to calculate time-distributed data for the profile, and to specify which projects are included (open only or open and specific closed projects) when you select the Show Remaining Bars As, Total Remaining option, click Preferences. Then, click the Resource Analysis tab."

That how-to fetched prints no OK, no Apply, no Save, no Yes, no View menu, and no named bar list (Budgeted / Actual / Remaining Early). Do not invent those on this how-to. The object note has the dialog catalog.

Define the Resource Usage Profile is a different how-to. How to open Resource Usage Profile Options. See Define the Resource Usage Profile.

Define the Resource Usage Profile - Stacked Histogram is a different how-to. Do not collapse it onto Regular.

The Resource Usage Profile is a different object note. Leave Resource Usage Profile as the object.

Professional vs EPPM

Professional — Resource Usage Profile Options; Data and Graph; Preferences → Resource Analysis. No OK / Apply on this how-to page.

EPPM web — the Professional how-to page is the source for this note. Do not invent an EPPM Regular Histogram dialog. Do not copy Professional Resource Usage Profile Options onto EPPM.

Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.

XER

The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no RSRUSAGE / PROFILEOPTIONS / REGULARHIST table. Do not invent a view %T. Defining the regular histogram does not write TASK. Layouts travel as .plf. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.

Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project can format a Resource Graph. Do not map that as P6 Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.

Don't

  • Invent View > Define Regular Histogram, OK, Apply, Save, Yes, or a Budgeted / Actual / Remaining Early list on this how-to.
  • Collapse this onto the overview Define, Stacked Histogram, Display, or the Resource Usage Profile object.
  • Copy Professional Resource Usage Profile Options onto EPPM.
  • Invent a REGULARHIST XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from TASKRSRC.
  • Map MSP Resource Graph options as this how-to.
  • Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
