What a planner means

Open a tracking layout is Oracle Open a tracking layout. Enterprise, Tracking, then View, Layout, Open. Or Display Options bar in the Layout window, then Layout, Open. Select a layout and click OK. It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not the Tracking object note, not Save a tracking layout, not Types of tracking layouts, not Activities Show on Bottom, not Resource Usage Profile, not EPPM copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft Project's Open.

Oracle does print a how-to titled Open a tracking layout. Oracle does not print a menu item named Open a tracking layout. The path that how-to prints is Enterprise, Tracking, then View, Layout, Open (or Display Options bar in the Layout window, Layout, Open). Do not invent View > Open a tracking layout.

Oracle Open a tracking layout (Professional):

  • "Choose Enterprise, Tracking, then choose View, Layout, Open."
  • "You can also click the Display Options bar in the Layout window and choose Layout, Open."
  • "Select a layout and click OK."

That how-to fetched prints OK. It does not print Apply, Cancel, Save, or Yes. It does not print the Open Layout dialog's global vs user icons, and it does not print the Layout Name field. Do not invent those on this how-to. The object note already quotes the dialog and Layout Name field from the Tracking window page. See Tracking.

The live client_help and User_Guides pages concatenate the first two sentences as Open. You (no space after the period). Quote the sentences as printed above.

The Tracking window is a different object note. Leave Tracking as the object.

Save a tracking layout is a different how-to. Do not collapse Open onto Save.

Professional vs EPPM

Professional — Enterprise, Tracking; View, Layout, Open; or Display Options bar in the Layout window, Layout, Open; select a layout; OK.

EPPM web — the Professional how-to page is the source for this note. Do not invent an EPPM Open a tracking layout dialog. Do not copy Professional View, Layout, Open onto EPPM.

Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.

XER

The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no TRACKING / TRACK / LAYOUT table. Do not invent a view %T. Opening a tracking layout does not write TASK. Layouts travel as .plf. PROJISSU.track_view_id and PROJTHRS.track_view_id are labeled Tracking Layout — a pointer on the issue/threshold, not the layout definition. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.

Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project can open a view. Do not map that as P6 Open a tracking layout. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.

Don't

  • Invent View > Open a tracking layout, Apply, Cancel, Save, Yes, Open Layout icon names, or the Layout Name field on this how-to.
  • Collapse this onto the Tracking object, Save a tracking layout, or Types of tracking layouts.
  • Copy Professional View, Layout, Open onto EPPM.
  • Invent a TRACKING / LAYOUT XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from TASK or track_view_id.
  • Map MSP Open as this how-to.
  • Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
