Show or Hide Resource Limits in the Resource Usage Profile

Show or hide resource limits in the Resource Usage Profile is Data tab; Show Limit and Show Allocated Limit

P6 Resources tab. Assignment columns and Add Resource / Add Role.
This is the Resources tab. Show limits on the Resource Usage Profile is a histogram option, not this tab.

What a planner means

Show or hide resource limits in the Resource Usage Profile is Oracle Show or hide resource limits in the Resource Usage Profile. View, Show on Bottom, Resource Usage Profile (or Layout Options bar). Display Options bar → Resource Usage Profile Options (or right-click). Data tab. Additional Data Options: mark or clear Show Limit and Show Allocated Limit. It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not the Resource Usage Profile object note, not Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram, not Show or hide resource overallocation, not TASKPRED, not EPPM copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft Resource Graph max units.

Oracle does print a how-to titled Show or hide resource limits in the Resource Usage Profile. Oracle does not print a menu item named Show or hide resource limits. The path that how-to prints is Resource Usage Profile Options, Data tab. Do not invent View > Show or hide resource limits.

Oracle Show or hide resource limits in the Resource Usage Profile (Professional):

  • "In the Activities window, choose View, Show on Bottom, Resource Usage Profile."
  • "You can also click the Layout Options bar, then choose Show on Bottom, Resource Usage Profile."
  • "Click the Display Options bar in the profile and choose Resource Usage Profile Options."
  • "You can also right-click in the profile and choose Resource Usage Profile Options."
  • "Click the Data tab."
  • "In the Additional Data Options section, mark or clear the Show Limit and Show Allocated Limit checkboxes."
  • Tip: "The Show Limit and Show Allocation Limit checkboxes are available only when you display units for the histogram. The Show Allocated Limit checkbox is only available if you display open projects only."

That how-to fetched prints no OK, no Apply, no Save, and no Yes. Do not invent those. Oracle prints Show Allocated Limit in the step and Show Allocation Limit in the tip (same page). Do not pick one as the only real name.

The Resource Usage Profile is a different object note. Leave Resource Usage Profile as the object.

Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram is a different how-to. It also names Show Limit. Do not collapse this onto Regular. See Define the Resource Usage Profile - Regular Histogram.

Professional vs EPPM

Professional — Resource Usage Profile Options, Data tab, Additional Data Options: Show Limit and Show Allocated Limit. Units only. Show Allocated Limit only if open projects only. No OK / Apply on this how-to page.

EPPM web — the Professional how-to page is the source for this note. Do not invent an EPPM Show Limit dialog. Do not copy Professional Additional Data Options onto EPPM.

Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.

XER

The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no RSRUSAGE / SHOWLIMIT table. Do not invent a view %T. Toggling Show Limit does not write TASK. Layouts travel as .plf. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.

Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project can show max units on a Resource Graph. Do not map that as P6 Show or hide resource limits. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.

Don't

  • Invent View > Show or hide resource limits, OK, Apply, Save, or Yes.
  • Collapse this onto Regular Histogram define, overallocation, availability, overtime, or the Resource Usage Profile object.
  • Pick Show Allocated Limit vs Show Allocation Limit as the only printed name (Oracle uses both on this page).
  • Copy Professional Additional Data Options onto EPPM.
  • Invent a SHOWLIMIT XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from RSRC max units.
  • Map MSP Resource Graph max units as this how-to.
  • Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
