Change Successor Relationships

Change successor relationships is Details Successors or Relationships type or Lag; not Assign Successors

P6 Successors tab. FS successor EC1680 Startup and Test HVAC, lag 0.
A successor is a relationship row on the activity, same table family as predecessors.

What a planner means

Change successor relationships is Oracle Change successor relationships. It is Project, Activities, select the activity, Display Activity Details, Successors or Relationships tab, then Assign / double-click Relationship Type / double-click Lag / Remove. It is a command. It is not stored as its own table. It is not Add successor relationships, not Remove successor relationships, not Change predecessor relationships, not Assign Successors as its own command, not Link Activities, not Unlink Activities, not Edit relationships in the Gantt Chart, and not EPPM Configuring Successor Relationships copied onto Professional.

Oracle Change successor relationships (Professional):

  1. "Choose Project, Activities."
  2. "Select the activity whose successor relationship you want to change."
  3. "Display Activity Details, then click the Successors or Relationships tab." Then four actions on that same step:

- "To add a successor, click Assign in the Successor tab or in the Successors area of the Relationships tab. Select the successor activity you want to add." - "To change a relationship type, double-click the appropriate Relationship Type field, then select a new relationship type." - "To change a lag time value, double-click the appropriate Lag field, then enter a new time value." - "To remove a successor, in the Successor Activity column select the successor you want to remove, then click Remove."

Quote those. That how-to fetched prints Successor tab (singular) on the Assign sentence and Successor Activity column on the Remove sentence. Step 3 prints Successors or Relationships tab. The add how-to prints Successors tab. Do not collapse Successor tab onto Successors tab. That how-to fetched prints no Comments, no Yes confirm, no relationship-type list, no lag unit, and no Select Project. Do not invent those on this how-to. Do not invent a menu item named Change successor relationships.

Add successor relationships is a different how-to. That page prints Assign + Close, Select Project for external, then Relationship Type / Lag / Comments, and Successors tab (plural). This change how-to does not print Comments or Select Project. It prints Successor tab (singular). See Assign Successors.

Remove successor relationships is a different how-to. That page is Remove → Yes, and names Go To. This change how-to prints Remove and Successor Activity column. It does not print Yes or Go To. Do not collapse them.

Change predecessor relationships is a different how-to. Predecessors or Relationships tab. That page prints Predecessors tab. This page prints Successor tab (singular) and Successor Activity column. Do not collapse them. See Change Predecessor Relationships.

Assign Successors is a different command. Edit > Assign > Successors opens the Assign Successors dialog. This how-to can click Assign from the tab; it is not the Edit menu command.

Link Activities / Unlink Activities are different commands. See Link Activities and Unlink Activities.

Edit relationships in the Gantt Chart is a different how-to. Oracle: "Double-click the line representing the relationship you want to edit." "Select a different relationship type." "Specify a new number of lag days." "Click OK." That is one drawn line, not the Successors tab. Edit relationships in the Activity Network is the Network counterpart.

Professional vs EPPM

Professional — the how-to above. Double-click Relationship Type / Lag. No Save on that page.

EPPM web — Oracle Configuring Successor Relationships: "Configure successor relationships to define lag or relationship type." Navigation Menu → Projects → Activities; select an activity → Relationships detail window; select a successor relationship; "Add or remove columns as needed"; "Select an option or enter a value for each field"; Save. That page fetched does not print double-click, Assign, Remove, or Comments. Do not copy Professional double-click / Assign / Remove onto EPPM. Do not copy EPPM Save / add-or-remove-columns onto Professional.

Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.

XER

The command is not an XER table. After it runs you see a changed TASKPRED row (pred_type, lag_hr_cnt, or a missing row if Remove). Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no CHANGESUCC / CHANGE_SUCC / CHANGESUCCESSOR table. Do not treat a changed TASKPRED as “the planner used Change successor relationships.” A Viewer cannot tell this command from Assign, Gantt edit, import, or EPPM configure.

See TASKPRED (Activity Relationships) and FS / SS / FF / SF + Lag (Planner Language).

Microsoft Project

Microsoft Change a task link: Gantt → double-click the Task Name → Predecessors tab → change Type, or set Type to (None) to delete. Lag is a different Microsoft page (Predecessors tab Lag column). That page fetched prints no Successors tab. That is not P6 Change successor relationships. Do not map them as the same command. Do not invent a Task Information Successors tab. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.

Don't

  • Treat this as Add successor, Remove successor (Yes / Go To), Change predecessor, Assign Successors, Link, Unlink, or Gantt-line edit.
  • Collapse Successor tab (singular, this how-to) onto add-how-to Successors tab.
  • Invent Comments, Yes, a type list, or Select Project on this how-to.
  • Invent a menu item named Change successor relationships.
  • Copy EPPM Save / Relationships detail window onto Professional, or Professional double-click onto EPPM.
  • Invent a CHANGESUCC XER table, or reconstruct the command from a TASKPRED row.
  • Map this to MSP Change a task link / Predecessors tab as the same command.
  • Invent a Task Information Successors tab.
  • Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
