In Primavera P6
Unlink Activities
Unlink Activities is Edit > Unlink Activities; removes relationships between the selected activities; not Link or Dissolve

What a planner means
Unlink Activities is Edit > Unlink Activities in the Activities window. Oracle Edit Menu: "Removes relationships between the selected activities." Enabled when active window is Activities. It is a command. It is not stored as its own table. It is not Link Activities, not Dissolve, not Remove predecessor relationships / Remove successor relationships, not Delete relationships in the Gantt Chart / Activity Network, not Assign Predecessors / Assign Successors, not EPPM Link Selected Activities copied onto Professional, and not Primavera Cloud Context Unlink Activities.
That page fetched prints no finish-to-start, no listed order, no "more than one activity," no Activity Table / Activity Network enable sentence, no lag, no SS / FF / SF, no overwrite rule, and no privilege. Do not invent those on this command. Do not copy Link's listed-order FS / more-than-one-activity sentence onto Unlink.
Edit Toolbar Unlink Activities: same one-liner. Displays by default? No. Enabled when active window is Activities. Shortcut keys: None. Corresponding menu: Edit > Unlink Activities. Tip: "To show icons on the toolbar that do not display by default, you must customize the toolbar." Do not invent a default Unlink icon. Do not invent a Ctrl shortcut (toolbar printed None).
Using Hot Keys: Alt-E, V = Unlink Activities. Alt-E, K = Link Activities. Quote those. Do not invent that Shortcut Keys printed a Ctrl key for Unlink. Do not collapse Alt-E, V onto toolbar None. Do not copy Alt-E, K onto Unlink.
Add/Edit/Delete Activity Relationships privilege (Professional project profile): "Determines whether the profile will enable users to create, modify, and remove activity relationships assigned to projects." The Edit Menu Unlink Activities row fetched does not print that privilege. Do not invent that it did. Add/Edit Activities Except Relationships is the other privilege: create and modify activity information except relationships. Do not collapse those two.
Link Activities is a different command. Edit Menu: "Creates a finish-to-start relationship between the activities you select in the Activities window. This action creates relationships based on the order in which the selected activities are listed. This command is enabled when you select more than one activity in the Activity Table or Activity Network." Hot key Alt-E, K. See Link Activities.
Dissolve is a different command. Edit > Dissolve "Deletes the selected activity and joins its predecessor and successor activities with a finish to start relationship." That removes a TASK. Unlink does not. See Dissolve Removes an Activity and Joins Its Predecessors to Its Successors.
Remove predecessor relationships / Remove successor relationships are different how-tos. Oracle Remove predecessor: Project, Activities → select the activity → Activity Details Predecessors or Relationships tab → select the predecessor → Remove → Yes. Oracle Remove successor: same path on the Successors or Relationships tab. Those how-tos fetched do not print Edit > Unlink Activities. They remove one selected predecessor or successor from one activity.
Delete relationships in the Gantt Chart / Activity Network are different how-tos. Oracle: double-click the line → Delete → Yes. Those pages fetched do not print Edit > Unlink Activities.
Assign Predecessors / Assign Successors are different commands. Edit > Assign > Predecessors opens Assign Predecessors. Edit > Assign > Successors opens Assign Successors. Hot keys Alt-E, I, P and Alt-E, I, S. Those dialogs assign (and can remove) one relationship at a time. They are not Edit > Unlink Activities.
Add Activity is a different command. Edit > Add. See Add Activity.
Professional vs EPPM
Professional — Edit > Unlink Activities as above. Activities window. One-liner only.
EPPM web — Activities Page fetched prints Link Selected Activities ("Creates a relationship between the selected activities. The default relationship is Finish to Start. The link is visible on the Gantt chart.") and Dissolve. That page fetched does not print Unlink Activities, Edit > Unlink Activities, or the Professional one-liner. Do not copy Professional Edit > Unlink Activities onto EPPM. Do not invent that the current Activities Page printed Unlink.
Oracle EPPM 21.1 What's New: "You can unlink activities from their successors and predecessors using the Unlink Activities option in the Row Actions menu in the grid view of the Activities page." Quote that. The current Activities Page fetched does not reprint that Row Actions item. Do not invent that it did. Do not copy that "from their successors and predecessors" sentence onto Professional Edit > Unlink.
Oracle EPPM Assign Relationships Panel: Remove Predecessors "Removes the relationships to the selected predecessor activities." Remove Successors "Removes the relationships to the selected successor activities." Getting Here: Context → Assign Predecessors or Assign Successors. That is not Unlink Activities.
Oracle EPPM Creating Activity Relationships tip: "To delete a relationship, right-click the relationship line and select Delete Relationship." That is not Unlink Activities.
Primavera Cloud — Context menu Unlink Activities: "To remove all relationships between activities, select the activities, select the Context menu, and then select Unlink Activities." That is Context, not Edit > Unlink Activities. Cloud is not P6 Professional or EPPM. Do not copy Cloud "all relationships between activities" onto Professional.
XER
The command is not an XER table. After it runs you see missing TASKPRED rows. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no UNLINK / UNLINKACTIVITIES / UNLINK_ACTIVITIES / UNLINKACT table. Do not treat a missing TASKPRED row as “the planner used Edit > Unlink Activities.” A Viewer cannot tell this command from Remove predecessor, Remove successor, Delete relationships in the Gantt Chart / Activity Network, or Assign Predecessors Remove.
Microsoft Project
Microsoft Unlink Tasks (Task tab, Schedule group; or Ctrl+Shift+F2 on the Project Online page): select the tasks, then unlink. Desktop: "To remove a link, select the two linked tasks and then choose Task > Unlink Tasks." Also: "On the Task tab, in the Schedule group, choose Unlink Tasks. The tasks are rescheduled, based on any links to other tasks or constraints." Project Online: "press Ctrl+Shift+F2, or click Unlink Tasks in the Editing group on the Task tab." Do not map Professional Edit > Unlink Activities to MSP Unlink Tasks as the same command. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
Don't
- Treat Unlink Activities as Link Activities, Dissolve, Remove predecessor / successor, Gantt/Network delete-relationship, or Assign Predecessors / Successors.
- Invent finish-to-start, listed order, or "more than one activity" on Unlink. Oracle printed those on Link, not on Unlink.
- Copy Cloud “all relationships between activities” or EPPM 21.1 “from their successors and predecessors” onto Professional.
- Invent lag, SS / FF / SF, or an overwrite rule on the Unlink command pages.
- Invent a default toolbar icon or a Ctrl shortcut (toolbar None; hot key Alt-E, V).
- Invent that the Edit Menu Unlink row printed Add/Edit/Delete Activity Relationships.
- Copy Professional Edit > Unlink Activities onto EPPM, or invent that the current EPPM Activities Page printed Unlink.
- Invent a UNLINK / UNLINKACTIVITIES XER table, or reconstruct the command from a missing TASKPRED row.
- Map this to MSP Unlink Tasks / Ctrl+Shift+F2 as the same command.
- Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
