In Primavera P6

Move to a Specific Activity in the Gantt Chart

Move to a specific activity in the Gantt Chart is double-click next to the activity

P6 Gantt of sample EC00515. Activity bars sit on the timescale to the right of the table.
Double-click next to the activity to jump to that bar. That is not pan and not dragging dates.

What a planner means

Move to a specific activity in the Gantt Chart is Oracle Move to a specific activity in the Gantt Chart. Double-click in the Gantt Chart next to the activity to jump to that activity's bar. It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not Move around a Gantt Chart (pan / scroll), not Change an activity's start and finish dates in the Gantt Chart, not Change an activity's duration in the Gantt Chart, not Display the Gantt Chart, not Find, not TASKPRED, not Primavera Cloud double-click an activity row copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft Go To / scroll to task.

Oracle does print a how-to titled Move to a specific activity in the Gantt Chart. Oracle does not print a menu item named Move to a specific activity in the Gantt Chart. That how-to fetched prints no View menu, no Bars, no OK, no Apply, no Save, no Find, and no Go To. Do not invent those on this how-to.

Oracle Move to a specific activity in the Gantt Chart (Professional):

  • "To jump to a specific activity's bar, double-click in the Gantt Chart next to the activity."

Move around a Gantt Chart is a different how-to. Drag the major timescale unit / scroll. That does not jump to one activity's bar. See Move Around a Gantt Chart.

Change an activity's start and finish dates in the Gantt Chart is a different how-to. Drag the bar to change dates. Double-click next to the activity does not move dates.

Display the Gantt Chart is a different how-to. Show/hide the Gantt. See Display the Gantt Chart.

Professional vs EPPM

Professional — double-click in the Gantt Chart next to the activity. No menu, no OK / Apply on that page.

EPPM web — the Professional how-to page is the source for this note. Do not copy Primavera Cloud "Double-click an activity row in the Gantt chart to move the timescale display to the beginning of that activity" onto Professional or EPPM unless an EPPM page prints it. Do not invent an EPPM Jump / Go To control.

Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.

XER

The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no MOVETO / JUMPTO / GOTOBAR table. Do not invent a view %T. Double-clicking next to an activity does not write TASK. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.

Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project can scroll a Gantt to a selected task. Do not map that as P6 Move to a specific activity in the Gantt Chart. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.

Don't

  • Invent View > Move to a specific activity, Find, Go To, OK, or Apply on this how-to.
  • Collapse this onto Move around a Gantt Chart or onto dragging dates.
  • Copy Primavera Cloud double-click-row wording onto Professional.
  • Invent a MOVETO XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from TASK dates.
  • Map MSP Go To / scroll to task as this how-to.
  • Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
