Change a Bar in the Gantt Chart

Change a bar in the Gantt Chart is View, Bars; Display, name, Timescale, Filter; OK or Apply

These bars come from the layout Bars list. Change a bar is View, Bars on an existing row, not dragging dates.

What a planner means

Change a bar in the Gantt Chart is Oracle Change a bar in the Gantt Chart. View, Bars; or Layout Options bar → Bars. Select the bar. Mark or clear Display. Change Name, Timescale, and Filter. Reconfigure Bar Style, Bar Settings, and Bar Labels. OK, or Apply to view without closing. It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not Add a bar to the Gantt Chart, not Delete a bar from the Gantt Chart, not Position a bar in the Gantt Chart, not Change a Gantt Chart bar's filter / label / settings / style / timescale as separate how-tos, not the Gantt bars object note, not Display the Gantt Chart, not Change an activity's start and finish dates in the Gantt Chart, not Change an activity's duration in the Gantt Chart, not View activity relationships in the Gantt Chart, not TASKPRED, not EPPM Configuring Activity View Gantt Chart Bars copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft Format Bar.

Oracle does print a how-to titled Change a bar in the Gantt Chart. Oracle does not print a menu item named Change a bar in the Gantt Chart. The menu that how-to prints is View, Bars. Do not invent View > Change a bar.

Oracle Change a bar in the Gantt Chart (Professional):

  • "Choose View, Bars. You can also click the Layout Options bar and choose Bars."
  • "Select the bar you want to change and mark or clear the Display checkbox."
  • "In the Name column, type a new name for the bar."
  • "In the Timescale column, select the timescale you want the Gantt Chart bar to represent."
  • "In the Filter column, choose the filter you want the Gantt Chart bar to represent."
  • "Click the Bar Style tab and reconfigure the Gantt Chart bar's style."
  • "Click the Bar Settings tab and select grouping and necking options."
  • "Click the Bar Labels tab and redefine the Gantt Chart bar's label and position."
  • "Click OK. To view your changes without closing this dialog box, click Apply."

That how-to fetched prints no Add, no Default, no Save, no Yes, no Bar Type list, and no Click Gantt View. Do not invent those on this how-to.

Add a bar to the Gantt Chart is a different how-to. View, Bars; Add; Display; name; Timescale; Filter; style tabs; Apply; Default. That page fetched prints no OK. Do not collapse Add onto Change. See Add a Bar to the Gantt Chart.

Gantt bars is a different object note. The Bars dialog as layout settings. See Gantt Bars Are Layout Bar Definitions, Not an XER Table.

Professional vs EPPM

Professional — View, Bars / Layout Options bar → Bars; select the bar; Display; Name; Timescale; Filter; Bar Style / Settings / Labels; OK or Apply. No Save on that page.

EPPM web — Oracle Configuring Activity View Gantt Chart Bars: click a bar to configure it; Bar Type, Height, colors; Apply. "Click the Add menu and select Bar or Label" is Add, not this Change how-to. That page fetched does not print View, Bars, Display checkbox, Timescale column, or Filter column. Do not copy Professional View, Bars / Filter column onto EPPM. Do not copy EPPM Bar Type / Add menu onto Professional.

Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.

XER

The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no CHANGEBAR / GANTTBAR / BARSTYLE / LAYOUTBAR table. Do not invent a view %T. Changing a bar definition does not write TASK. Layouts travel as .plf. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.

Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project can format Gantt bar styles. Do not map that as P6 Change a bar in the Gantt Chart. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.

Don't

  • Invent View > Change a bar, or invent Add / Default / Save / Bar Type on this how-to.
  • Collapse this onto Add a bar, Delete a bar, or the Gantt bars object note.
  • Copy EPPM Bar Type / Add menu onto Professional, or Professional Filter column / OK onto EPPM.
  • Invent a CHANGEBAR XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from TASK dates.
  • Map MSP Format Bar as this how-to.
  • Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
