Change a Gantt Chart Bar's Timescale
Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale is Timescale column; Current Bar / Plan Bar / Float Bar and the rest

What a planner means
Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale is Oracle Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale (and Oracle Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale - under Gantt Chart). Select the bar. In the Timescale column, pick the timeperiod the bar represents. The two titles do not print the same menu or the same close buttons. One page prints View, Top Layout Options, Bars and Apply only (no OK on that page), plus the value-to-bar table. The Gantt Chart sibling prints View, Bars (or Layout Options bar → Bars) and OK or Apply, with no table on that page. It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not Change a layout's timescale format, not the Timescale object (date-axis), not Change a bar in the Gantt Chart, not Change a Gantt Chart bar's filter / label / settings / style, not the Gantt bars object, not TASKPRED, not EPPM Configuring Activity View Gantt Chart Bars Bar Type copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft timescale / Format Bar.
Oracle does print how-tos titled Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale and Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale - under Gantt Chart. Oracle does not print a menu item named Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale. Do not invent View > Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale.
Oracle Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale (Professional):
- "Display the Gantt Chart, then choose View, Top Layout Options, Bars."
- "Select the bar."
- "In the Timescale column, select the timeperiod you want the bar to represent."
- "To preview the new bar without closing the Bars dialog box, click Apply."
- "Depending on whether an activity layout or a tracking layout is displayed, the options vary for specifying the timeperiod represented by a Gantt Chart bar. Some timeperiods are available for both layout types. In activity layouts the bars represent dates for an activity; in tracking layouts, depending on the current view, bars may represent an EPS node, project, or WBS element."
Quote Oracle's timeperiod spelling. That page fetched prints no OK, no Layout Options bar, no View, Bars, no Save, and no Yes. Do not invent OK on that page.
Oracle table on that page (To represent this value → Select this bar):
- Start Date to Finish Date → Current Bar
- Percent Complete → % Complete Bar
- Performance Percent Complete → Performance % Complete Bar
- Planned Start Date to Planned Finish Date → Plan Bar
- Actual Start Date to Actual Finish Date → Actual Bar
- Remaining Start Date to Remaining Finish Date → Remain Bar
- Primary Baseline Planned Start Date to Primary Baseline Planned Finish Date → Primary Baseline Bar
- Secondary Baseline Planned Start Date to Secondary Baseline Planned Finish Date → Secondary Baseline Bar
- Tertiary Baseline Planned Start Date to Tertiary Baseline Planned Finish Date → Tertiary Baseline Bar
- Early Start Date to Early Finish Date → Early Bar
- Late Start Date to Late Finish Date → Late Bar
- Remaining Finish Date to Late Finish Date → Float Bar
- Remaining Finish Date to Late Finish Date with Remaining after the late date → Neg Float Bar
- User start and end dates defined in the activity columns → User Defined Bars
Oracle Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale - under Gantt Chart (Professional):
- "Choose View, Bars. You can also click the Layout Options bar and choose Bars."
- "Select the Gantt Chart bar for which you want to change the timescale."
- "In the Timescale column, select the timescale you want the Gantt Chart bar to represent."
- "Click OK. To view your changes without closing this dialog box, click Apply."
That page fetched prints no View, Top Layout Options, Bars, no timeperiod table, no Save, and no Yes. Do not copy the table or Apply-only close onto that sibling. Do not collapse the two titles.
Timescale is a different object. The date-axis format (Timescale dialog). This how-to is the Bars-dialog Timescale column (which dates a bar draws). See Timescale.
Change a bar in the Gantt Chart is a different how-to. Timescale is one column among Display / Name / Filter / style tabs. See Change a Bar in the Gantt Chart.
Gantt bars is a different object note. The Bars dialog as layout settings. See Gantt Bars Are Layout Bar Definitions, Not an XER Table.
Professional vs EPPM
Professional — two menus, do not mix them. One page: display the Gantt Chart; View, Top Layout Options, Bars; Timescale column; Apply only; value-to-bar table. Gantt Chart sibling: View, Bars / Layout Options bar → Bars; Timescale column; OK or Apply; no table. No Save on those pages.
EPPM web — Oracle Configuring Activity View Gantt Chart Bars has Bar Type (current, late, user defined, and the rest). That page fetched does not print View, Bars, a Timescale column, Current Bar / Plan Bar / Neg Float Bar as that table, or View, Top Layout Options, Bars. Do not copy Professional Timescale column / that table onto EPPM. Do not copy EPPM Bar Type onto Professional.
Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.
XER
The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no BARTIMESCALE / GANTTTIMESCALE / BARTYPE table. Do not invent a view %T. Changing a bar's timescale does not write TASK. Layouts travel as .plf. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.
Microsoft Project
Microsoft Project can pick which dates a Gantt bar style uses. Do not map that as P6 Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
Don't
- Invent View > Change a Gantt Chart bar's timescale, or invent OK on the Top Layout Options page that prints Apply only.
- Copy View, Bars / OK onto the Top Layout Options page, or the value-to-bar table onto the Gantt Chart sibling.
- Collapse this onto Change a layout's timescale format, the Timescale object, Change a bar, or the Gantt bars object.
- Copy EPPM Bar Type onto Professional, or Professional Timescale column onto EPPM.
- Invent a BARTIMESCALE XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from TASK dates.
- Map MSP bar-style dates as this how-to.
- Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
