In Primavera P6
Export a Tracking Layout Writes a Primavera Layout File (.plf)

What a planner means
Export a tracking layout is Oracle Export a tracking layout. View, Layout, Open. Or Display Options bar in the Layout window, then Layout, Open. Select the layout, then click Export. Specify the drive and folder, type a name, then click Save. The file is a Primavera Layout File (. PLF). It is a how-to. It is not stored as its own table. It does not create, edit, or delete a relationship. It is not the Tracking object note, not Open a tracking layout, not Save a tracking layout, not Import a tracking layout, not Share a layout with other users, not Publish tracking layouts, not Types of tracking layouts, not Activities Show on Bottom, not EPPM copied onto Professional, and not Microsoft Project export.
Oracle does print a how-to titled Export a tracking layout. Oracle does not print a menu item named Export a tracking layout. The path that how-to prints is View, Layout, Open (or Display Options bar in the Layout window, Layout, Open), then Export. Do not invent View > Export a tracking layout.
Oracle Export a tracking layout (Professional):
- "Choose View, Layout, Open."
- "You can also click the Display Options bar in the Layout window and choose Layout, Open."
- "Select the layout you want to export, then click Export."
- "Specify the drive and folder to which you want to export the layout, type a name for the layout, then click Save."
- "The layout is saved in Primavera Layout File (. PLF) format."
That how-to fetched prints Export and Save. It does not print OK, Apply, Cancel, or Yes. It prints no file-dialog title and no Enterprise, Tracking. Do not invent those on this how-to. Oracle printed the extension as . PLF (space after the period). Layouts travel as .plf. Do not invent another extension.
The live client_help page concatenates the first two sentences as Open. You (no space after the period). Quote the sentences as printed above.
The Tracking window is a different object note. Leave Tracking as the object.
Open a tracking layout is a different how-to. That page selects a layout and clicks OK. This page selects a layout and clicks Export. Do not collapse Export onto Open. See Open a Tracking Layout.
Save a tracking layout is a different how-to. View, Layout, Save or Save As writes the layout in P6. This Save is the file Save after Export. Do not collapse them. See Save a Tracking Layout.
Share a layout with other users is a different how-to. That catalog says export then Email. This page does not print Email. Do not invent Email on Export. See Share a Layout With Other Users.
Import a tracking layout is a different how-to. Do not invent Import on this page.
Professional vs EPPM
Professional — View, Layout, Open; or Display Options bar in the Layout window, Layout, Open; select the layout; Export; drive and folder; name; Save; Primavera Layout File (. PLF).
EPPM web — the Professional how-to page is the source for this note. Do not invent an EPPM Export a tracking layout dialog. Do not copy Professional View, Layout, Open then Export onto EPPM.
Primavera Cloud is a different product. Do not copy it here.
XER
The how-to is not an XER table. Oracle’s project XER map TOC has no TRACKING / TRACK / LAYOUT table. Do not invent a view %T. Exporting a tracking layout does not write TASK. Layouts travel as .plf, not as an XER table. PROJISSU.track_view_id and PROJTHRS.track_view_id are labeled Tracking Layout — a pointer on the issue/threshold, not the layout definition. A Viewer cannot reconstruct that the planner used this how-to.
Microsoft Project
Microsoft Project can export or copy a view. Do not map that as P6 Export a tracking layout or as a .plf. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
Don't

- Copy Professional View, Layout, Open then Export onto EPPM.
- Invent a TRACKING / LAYOUT XER table, or reconstruct the how-to from TASK or track_view_id.
- Map MSP export as this how-to or as a
.plf. - Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
