Delete Relationships in the Activity Network
Delete relationships in the Activity Network is double-click the line; Delete; Yes; not Edit Network, Delete Gantt, Unlink, or Remove predecessor

What a planner means
Delete relationships in the Activity Network is Oracle Delete relationships in the Activity Network. Double-click the line, Delete, Yes. It is a command. It is not stored as its own table. It is not Edit relationships in the Activity Network, not Create relationships in the Activity Network, not Delete relationships in the Gantt Chart, not View activity relationships in the Activity Network, not Display the Activity Network, not the Activity Network view, not Trace Logic, not Remove predecessor relationships, not Remove successor relationships, not Change predecessor relationships, not Change successor relationships, not Unlink Activities, not Link Activities, not Assign Predecessors / Assign Successors, not Show Relationships, not EPPM About Activity Networks copied onto Professional, not EPPM Creating Activity Relationships Delete Relationship copied onto Professional, and not Primavera Cloud Gantt Delete Relationship.
Oracle does print a numbered how-to titled Delete relationships in the Activity Network. Oracle does not print a menu item named Delete relationships in the Activity Network. Do not invent Edit > Delete relationships in the Activity Network.
Oracle Delete relationships in the Activity Network (Professional):
- "Double-click the line representing the relationship you want to delete."
- "Click Delete."
- "Click Yes."
Quote those. Quote Delete and Yes. The Edit Network counterpart prints OK, a new relationship type, and lag days. Do not collapse them. Do not invent that this how-to printed a dialog title, FS / FF / SF / SS codes, Finish-to-Start hyphens, a stored pred_type, a Type list, (None), relationship type, or lag days.
That how-to fetched prints no dialog title, no "Choose Project, Activities," no Display the Activity Network / Layout Options bar Show on Top, no Save, no edge mappings, no hint help window, no comments, no OK, no Assign, no Select Project, no Display Activity Details, no circle, no Create Relationship, no right-click, no Delete Relationship, no Edit Relationship, no Apply, no Gantt Settings, no Remove, no Go To, and no privilege. Do not invent those on this how-to.
Edit relationships in the Activity Network is a different how-to. Oracle: "Double-click the line representing the relationship you want to edit." "Select a new relationship type." "Specify a new number of lag days." "Click OK." That changes one line. This delete how-to prints Delete / Yes, not OK / a new relationship type / lag days. Do not collapse them. See Edit Relationships in the Activity Network.
Delete relationships in the Gantt Chart is a different how-to. Oracle: "Double-click the line representing the relationship you want to delete." "Click Delete." "Click Yes." Same three sentences; the title is Gantt Chart, not Activity Network. Do not collapse those titles. That is the Gantt line, not the Network line. See Delete Relationships in the Gantt Chart.
Create relationships in the Activity Network is a different how-to. Draw from the edge of the predecessor activity box (relationship pointer: "a vertical single-ended arrow") to the successor activity box. Four edge sentences set finish to start / finish to finish / start to finish / start to start. That page prints a hint help window and comments on Details tabs. This delete how-to is one existing line, not a new draw. See Create Relationships in the Activity Network.
View activity relationships in the Activity Network is a different how-to. "The Activity Network displays a graphical view of all activity relationships for a specific activity filter." "In the hierarchy table on the left side of the Activity Network, select the hierarchy element whose activity relationships you want to view. The Activity Network table displays the selected hierarchy element's activities." "A line connecting two activity boxes indicates an activity relationship. The point at which the line begins on the predecessor box and the point at which the line ends on the successor box indicates the type of the activity relationship." Same four mappings worded as begins/ends on the right or left side of the box. That page is view. It does not print Double-click, Delete, or Yes.
View activity relationships in the Gantt Chart is a different how-to. Layout Options bar → Show on Top, Gantt Chart. "A line connecting two activity bars indicates an activity relationship." That page is view. It does not print Double-click, Delete, or Yes.
Display the Activity Network is a different how-to. View > Show on Top > Activity Network / Layout Options bar / Top Layout toolbar. That opens the view. It does not delete a relationship. See Activity Network.
The Activity Network view is a different object. Show-on-Top WBS diagram of activities and relationships. Box positions save as .ANP. It is not this delete command. See Activity Network.
Trace Logic is a different view. Show on Bottom / selected-activity pred/succ chain. It is not this delete. See Trace Logic.
Show Relationships is a different command. Bar Chart Options General tab / Top Layout toolbar show-or-hide of Gantt relationship lines. Hiding Gantt lines is not this delete. See Show Relationships.
Remove predecessor relationships / Remove successor relationships are different how-tos. Oracle Remove predecessor: Project, Activities → select the activity → Activity Details Predecessors or Relationships tab → select the predecessor → Remove → Yes (and names Go To). Oracle Remove successor: same path on the Successors or Relationships tab. Those pages print Remove, not Double-click the line / Delete. Do not collapse them.
Change predecessor relationships / Change successor relationships are different how-tos. Project, Activities → Display Activity Details → Predecessors or Successors or Relationships tab → double-click Relationship Type / Lag / Remove. Those pages print a new relationship type and a new time value. Change predecessor prints Remove and does not print Yes. They do not print Double-click the line, Delete, or OK. See Change Predecessor Relationships and Change Successor Relationships.
Unlink Activities is a different command. Edit > Unlink Activities "Removes relationships between the selected activities." It does not double-click one drawn line. See Unlink Activities.
Link Activities is a different command. Edit > Link Activities creates a finish-to-start in listed order. It does not delete one drawn line. See Link Activities.
Assign Predecessors / Assign Successors are different commands. Edit > Assign > Predecessors / Successors open the Assign dialogs. Oracle Add predecessor relationships / Add successor relationships are Details → Assign. Those how-tos print Relationship Type / Lag / Comments after assign. They do not print Double-click the line / Delete / Yes. See Assign Predecessors and Assign Successors.
Oracle Activities window Working with activity relationships names Delete relationships in the Gantt Chart and Delete relationships in the Activity Network as separate tasks (with Create / Edit / View Gantt and Network, Add / Change / Remove predecessor and successor, and View in Activity Details / Trace logic). Working with the Activity Network also names Create / Edit / Delete / View / Display as separate tasks. Linking Activities with Relationships lists Create / Edit / Delete Gantt and Network as separate how-tos. Do not collapse those titles.
Add/Edit/Delete Activity Relationships privilege (Professional project profile): "Determines whether the profile will enable users to create, modify, and remove activity relationships assigned to projects." The Delete relationships in the Activity Network how-to fetched does not print that privilege. Do not invent that it did.
Professional vs EPPM
Professional — the how-to above. Double-click the line; Delete; Yes. That page fetched prints no Save, no right-click, and no Delete Relationship.
EPPM web — do not copy Professional Double-click / Delete / Yes onto EPPM.
Oracle EPPM About Activity Networks: "You can use an Activity Network to view activity relationship paths and the flow of work through a project. Activity Networks also allow you to examine and edit an activity and its predecessors and successors." That page fetched does not print Double-click, Delete, Yes, or a how-to titled Delete relationships in the Activity Network. Do not invent that it did. That page does not print this Professional how-to.
Oracle EPPM Working with the Activity Network / Activity Network Format of the Activities Page (G48897) are the EPPM view. Arrows between boxes; red/blue or red/black outlines; solid/dashed driving; Show Driving Relationships / Show Critical Activities. Those pages fetched print no Double-click, no Delete, no Yes, and no how-to titled Delete relationships in the Activity Network. Do not invent that they did. Do not copy those EPPM visual cues onto this Professional delete how-to.
Oracle EPPM Creating Activity Relationships is Gantt circle drag + Save. Tip: "To delete a relationship, right-click the relationship line and select Delete Relationship." Quote right-click and Delete Relationship as that page printed them. That tip is Gantt, not Activity Network. That page fetched does not print Double-click, Delete, Yes, Edit Relationship, or lag days. Do not invent that it did. Do not invent that Professional printed right-click, Delete Relationship, circle, Gantt Settings, or Save. Delete Relationship is not this Professional how-to.
Oracle EPPM Configuring Activity Relationships: "Configure activity relationships to adjust interdependencies between different activities." Navigation Menu → Projects → Activities; Gantt View; Gantt Settings and select to show relationships; "Right click the relationship line of the relationship you want to configure and click Edit Relationship." "In the Edit Relationship dialog box, configure the type and lag and click Apply." Save. Tip: "You can also configure predecessor and successor relationships from the Relationships detail windows." That page fetched does not print Double-click, Delete, Yes, or Delete Relationship. Do not invent that it did. That is EPPM edit, not this Professional delete.
Oracle EPPM Configuring Predecessor Relationships / Configuring Successor Relationships are the Relationships detail window (select a predecessor or successor; "Add or remove columns as needed"; "Select an option or enter a value for each field"; Save). Those are not Network-line delete. See Change Predecessor Relationships and Change Successor Relationships.
Oracle EPPM Gantt View Format (G48897): Relationship Lines; Gantt Settings Relationships "Show or hide relationships between activities in the Gantt." "Hovering directly to the left or right of an activity bar when relationship lines are visible in the Gantt will display: Create Relationship." That page fetched does not print Delete Relationship, Right click the relationship line, Double-click, Delete, or Yes. Do not invent that it did.
Primavera Cloud — Modify Activity Details in the Gantt Chart: "To delete an existing relationship, right-click a relationship line, and then select Delete Relationship." That is a different product. Do not copy Cloud right-click / Delete Relationship onto P6 Professional or EPPM.
XER
None. Oracle's project XER map TOC has no DELETENETWORK / DELETEREL / NETWORKREL / DELETE_NETWORK_RELATIONSHIP / DELETERELATIONSHIP table. After the command you see a missing TASKPRED. Do not invent a command %T. Do not treat a missing TASKPRED row as "the planner used Delete relationships in the Activity Network."
TASKPRED is the relationship. Columns that match names Oracle used elsewhere (Oracle XER labels): pred_type (Relationship Type), lag_hr_cnt (Lag), comments (Comments), task_id (Successor), pred_task_id (Predecessor). The Delete relationships in the Activity Network how-to fetched does not print those column names, a stored pred_type code, Comments, relationship type, or lag days. It prints Delete and Yes. See TASKPRED (Activity Relationships) and FS / SS / FF / SF + Lag (Planner Language).
A Viewer parse of one XER cannot reconstruct whether the planner used Network-line delete, Gantt-line delete, Unlink Activities, Remove predecessor / Remove successor, Change predecessor Remove, Assign Remove, import, or EPPM Creating Activity Relationships Delete Relationship.
Microsoft Project
Microsoft Change a task link: "Click View > Gantt Chart." "Double-click the link line between the two tasks." "Pick a dependency type from the Type list." "To get rid of the link entirely, pick (None) from the Type list."
That page's other way: "Double-click the Task Name field" → Predecessors tab → Type column, or (None) to delete.
Quote link line, Type list, and (None). P6 printed the line representing the relationship, Delete, and Yes. Do not collapse them. Microsoft Change a task link fetched prints no Delete and no Yes. Do not invent that it did. P6 delete fetched prints no Type list and no (None). Edit on P6 is a different how-to (a new relationship type / lag days / OK). Microsoft Network Diagram create is center-of-box drag. They are not the same command as P6 Delete relationships in the Activity Network. Do not map P6 Network-line delete to MSP Change a task link / Predecessors tab / (None) / Network Diagram center-box drag as the same command. Do not claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
Microsoft Unlink Tasks (Task tab, Schedule group) is a different Microsoft command: select the linked tasks, then Unlink Tasks. That is not Type (None) on the link line, and it is not this P6 how-to.
Don't
- Treat this as Create / Edit / View relationships in the Activity Network, Display the Activity Network, the Activity Network view, Trace Logic, Delete relationships in the Gantt Chart, Remove predecessor / Remove successor, Change predecessor / Change successor, Link Activities, Unlink Activities, Assign Predecessors / Assign Successors, Add predecessor / Add successor, Show Relationships, EPPM About Activity Networks copied onto Professional, EPPM Creating Activity Relationships Delete Relationship copied onto Professional, or Cloud Gantt Delete Relationship.
- Collapse Gantt Delete (same three sentences; title Gantt Chart) onto this how-to's title Activity Network.
- Collapse Edit Network a new relationship type / lag days / OK onto this how-to's Delete / Yes.
- Collapse Remove predecessor / Remove successor Remove / Details-tab / Go To onto this how-to's Delete / Double-click the line / Yes.
- Invent that this how-to printed a dialog title, FS / FF / SF / SS codes, a Type list, (None), Comments, relationship type, lag days, OK, Save, Assign, Select Project, a circle, Create Relationship, right-click, Delete Relationship, Edit Relationship, Apply, Remove, or Go To.
- Invent a menu item named Delete relationships in the Activity Network, or invent that the how-to printed Choose Project, Activities / Show on Top, Activity Network.
- Invent that the delete how-to printed Add/Edit/Delete Activity Relationships.
- Copy Professional Double-click / Delete / Yes onto EPPM, or copy EPPM right-click / Delete Relationship / circle / Gantt Settings / Save onto Professional.
- Invent that EPPM About Activity Networks, Working with the Activity Network, or Activity Network Format printed Double-click / Delete / Yes or a how-to titled Delete relationships in the Activity Network.
- Invent that EPPM Creating Activity Relationships printed Double-click / Delete / Yes, or that Configuring Activity Relationships printed Delete Relationship, or that Gantt View Format printed Right click / Delete Relationship / Double-click / Delete / Yes.
- Copy Cloud right-click / Delete Relationship onto Professional or EPPM.
- Invent a DELETENETWORK / DELETEREL / NETWORKREL / DELETE_NETWORK_RELATIONSHIP / DELETERELATIONSHIP XER table, or treat a missing TASKPRED row as "the planner used Delete relationships in the Activity Network."
- Claim a Viewer reconstructed that the planner last used Network-line delete from an XER.
- Map P6 Delete relationships in the Activity Network to MSP Change a task link / Predecessors tab / (None) / Unlink Tasks / Network Diagram center-box drag as the same command.
- Invent that Microsoft Change a task link printed Delete / Yes, or that P6 delete printed Type list / (None).
- Claim MPXJ writes a real MPP.
